For those students who love a challenge and have a competitive spirit, this project is for you! Every year the Tech Museum in San Jose hosts "an annual team design competition that introduces and reinforces the science and engineering process with a hands-on team project geared to solving a real-world problem." Since it would be impossible for us to participate in the San Jose Tech Challenge, we are bringing the Tech Challenge to Golden View! The Tech Museum has so kindly provided us with plans from one of their past Tech Challenges and their permission to conduct our own Tech Challenge using their plans. This year The Tech Challenge will be to design, create, and test an earthquake-safe structure. Up for the challenge, feeling a bit competitive? Check out our new Tech Challenge project!
Note: This project requires each team to have an adult mentor/adviser. You will find more information on the mentor/adviser role under the Rules section. Students choosing this project will have to turn in an engineering journal with their project. Science boards are optional. Students will be required to present their project to an adult panel. This project is open to all 4th and 5th grade students. |
A special thank you to Scott Hamman, The Tech Museum, for his guidance, help,
and expertise with our Tech Challenge project! |
